FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Why is First Class Mail more expensive than UPS for larger items?
Our preferred method of shipping is UPS. We give First Class Mail as an option but prefer that it be used only for very light items like our buttons. Because of security concerns in New York City, any first class mail packages of a certain weight must be hand delivered to the post office. This is an expensive burden for us. In addition, first class mail cannot be tracked.
2. How do my purchases help The Nation magazine?
The sale price of each item we sell includes a small mark-up which contributes directly to the magazine's bottom line. The small profit we earn selling our t-shirts, hats and other merchandise helps defray our persistent annual deficit and thus helps keep us publishing.
